I come across Facebook fan pages for businesses large and small every day that are being extremely underutilized. There is a great deal of potential in making a Facebook page right you just have to take the time and create it to your audiences liking. Facebook is a bit of a different animal than LinkedIn and Twitter. Facebook is very sensitive to how you use it so one false move could get your account shut off. If you have been using it for a great deal of time you know how frightening it could be to lose everything you have worked so hard for.
There are some elements that should always be utilized on your Facebook fan page in order to keep it maximized at all times, let’s take a look at some:
Your side bar is great real estate space on your Facebook fan page. The Facebook coding language FBML can allow you to create just about anything in your sidebar. Typically I like to put a nice long banner there directing people to where they need to go. I usually drop people onto the website that is connected to it but you can send them anywhere. Don’t forget to use the space to give your brand even more exposure.
Your tabs are like pages to your fan page. You can add anything you want. This is just as important as your sidebar of your website. You also have the ability for visitors to land directly on a single tab page instead of the wall for increased branding efforts.
Even if you don’t have many followers post stuff often. It only takes a few seconds and the potential for one of the wall posts to make it into a search feed is high. Don’t forget to connect your Facebook wall posts to your Twitter account either because this will increase the amount of visitors coming over to your fan page over time.
Link your Fan Page
Link your fan page everywhere you can. When you build other profiles don’t forget to leave links to your Facebook fan page so people can get there. Don’t ever assume your audience will just simply find it. It doesn’t work that way. Some will but most will not.
Facebook is not going anywhere and a brands presence on the network is very important to have. Studies have shown that potential customers are more willing to purchase from a brand that is active on Facebook and social media in general. Don’t wait any longer and get a fan page for your business set up today.
