What is Pinterest? Pinterest is this new amazingly awesome bookmarking tool aimed at changing the social bookmarking industry into something better than it has been. Sites like Digg, Reddit and Delicious have been at the forefront of social bookmarking for many years. Recently I feel like they have been slipping a bit when it comes to popularity. Pinterest came in to fill a void, and boy did they.

Pinterest is a site where the community can collect their favorite sites or pages online and showcase them in a very unique way. This infographic below made by Infographic Labs explains in greater detail exactly what Pinterest really is.

    I’ve joined Pinterest, but, for a page to be pinned it needs at least one image on it. That makes it less conventional than other types of social media, which is probably one of its selling points.

      I think that is the beauty behind Pinterest. Images are great for click throughs and it allows Pinterest to be more visual. I think that is how they stand apart from other social bookmarking sites like Digg, Delicious or Reddit.
