Online Business Marketing: Making Social Medias Work for You

When social media came along, many saw it as a trend that would quickly fade. Once business owners realized social media was here to stay, they tried it for a few days and concluded it wasn’t working for them. The fact is, social media is not something you do for a week and expect to see results. Like other forms of marketing, it takes time, strategic planning and a bit of stick-to-itiveness to work.

Figure out your objective

What is your reason for marketing? Are you doing it to build your brand? Do you want to boost profits? Are you doing it to build a network of contacts? Once you figure out your primary marketing goal, you will have a clearer vision of what your next steps should be.

Know your market

Is your target buyer women who have money to spend on high-end handbags or is it teens who love colorful shoes? If you don’t know which demographic is most likely to buy your products, your marketing campaign won’t be very effective. Pinpoint your market, understand what drives them, and then plan a strategy that will catch their attention.

Integrate your social media accounts

Nowadays, almost everyone has a social media account. When you use multiple types, you have a better chance of maximizing your reach. For instance, if you have blog that you use for your business, you can integrate it with your Facebook, Twitter and YouTube accounts. Marketing experts such as those at Exposed Systems can help you determine the most effective way to integrate your accounts.

Don’t go overboard with selling

If every time someone visits your social media page they are bombarded with a sales pitch, they will eventually stop coming. Instead of always trying to sell, offer your visitors something of value. Helpful articles, tips, advice and videos are things that your followers will appreciate and share.

Generate content

After you have a plan in place, figure out how you’re going to generate articles, videos and other content for your social media sites. You don’t have to do it all at once. You can post two to three times per week. The key is keeping the content fresh and informative. If you don’t add fresh, relevant content regularly, your followers will have no reason to come back. In addition, updated content helps improve search engine rankings.

Businesses that shun social media marketing are cheating themselves out of the opportunity to extend their reach. If the idea of social media overwhelms you, invest in a marketing expert that will take care of the grunt work for you.
